Quench Shower - WINNER Home Beautiful Product of the Year Award 2007!The moment has arrived! The Quench team is proud to announce that the Quench Shower has “WON Home Beautiful Product of the Year 2007” in the Bathroom Design, Value for Money section. The section was open to bathroomware with a strong design focus. The bathroom is an increasingly important area for pampering; and the judges were looking for products that evoke this feeling through design innovation and practicality. This is an exciting time for Quench. We were just recently announced “WINNER of the HIA Home Ideas Show 2007 “Product of the Year” Award for innovation, environmental and design capabilities, so to WIN the Home Beautiful Design award is a credit to inventor and Managing Director, Brian Gay and his team for their constant efforts in getting the word out there, not only about saving enormous amounts of water, but doing it in style! We’d like to thank Home Beautiful for the opportunity. So far the response has been tremendous. Here are some of the details the Quench Shower was judged on. 1. DESIGNOur approach to design was to create a product that filled a massive gap in the community – a shower that saves enormous amounts of water, introduces a hydrotherapeutic environment – but that was stylish, completely versatile, clearly differentiated, efficient to manufacture, easy to install, able to upgrade and customise and most importantly, simple to use and understand. Our design philosophy is simply to ensure that the ‘visual’ design enhanced Quench’s environmental capabilities – that they appealed equally. We identified two types of users; the ‘no fuss’ consumer and the ‘designer’ consumer. The Q1 model – serves the ‘no fuss consumer’ well. It is a full cubicle and base that comes in two parts that just fits into the corner of the bathroom. The operating system and tapware is factory fitted and once the basic plumbing is complete, it is ready to use. Keeping in the mind a custom setting, the Q1 models can be upgraded in size and function and colour matched to the bathroom surrounds. The smooth moulded surface is extremely easy to clean. The Q2 model – was an ideal solution for the ‘designer’ consumer. We had to develop a way that people could design their shower setting as planned but by incorporating a Quench system. We identified that some would want a fully moulded base, but others prefer a tiled base but still allowed for the reservoir. We saw the potential for the control cover to blend with its surrounds or in fact be a feature of the shower. As a result, the control cover is supplied undressed so consumers can add glass, stainless steel, stone, wood or tile. To make things easier again, we can factory fit any cover design request. Both systems have a self-sanitation process that activates by pushing a button. It’s that simple. The organic sanitizing solution is refilled easily via a discreet hole that is capped and looks part of the design. The temperature control also blends into the unit. Continuing with the focus, Quench can be upgraded to Q-Light which sets a relaxing mood in a hydro environment; a Q-Pump that preheats the water before it flows through the showerhead saving even more water; the Q-Dome that creates a steam room environment and the Q-Grey Water System, allowing the reuse of your shower water. The components of Quench are all of superior quality commonly used in commercial hydrotherapy spa design – ensuring sustainability and longevity. 2. INNOVATIONRecirculation in showers is not a new idea – however the simple, compact design of Quench has never been created before nor has the potential water and energy savings that it can achieve. Around 82% water and 87% energy is a massive achievement particularly with declining water supplies and restrictions. 3. PRACTICALITYThe Quench shower is intentionally easy to use – it operates at the touch of a button. The user steps into the shower and washes immediately this can be achieved easily in 2 minutes using about 20 litres of water. Once the soapy water flows down the drain you close the spring cap on the drain with your foot. You allow the reservoir to fill (4 litres of water) and then you push a button located next to the mixer valve. The shower shuts off for approximately 2 seconds then returns the flow – at the same pressure and temperature as your normal shower mode – using the reservoir water. |
